5056 aluminum is a 5000-series aluminum alloy: the main alloying addition is magnesium, and it is formulated for primary forming into wrought prodsucts. Aluminium Alloy 5056 primary constituent is magnesium which gives this nonheat treatable alloy its high strength. Alloy 5056 also has excellent corrosion resistance and can be used in atmospheres such as saltwater where corrosion would normally be a problem with other metals. The aluminum 5056 alloys are used in zippers, cable sheathings, rivets for magnesium, and screen wiress.
