The 2024 aluminum rods is a typical hard aluminum alloy in the aluminum-copper-magnesium system. Its composition is reasonable and its comprehensive performance is good.
The alloy can be used as working parts below 150℃. The strength of alloy 2024 is higher than that of alloy 7075. The forming performance is good in a hot state, annealing state, and a new quenching state. The corrosion resistance is poor, but it can be effectively protected by the pure aluminum coating. Welding is easy to crack, but the use of special technology can be welding, riveting.
