Prodsuct Description
Possessing both high strength and great fatigue resistance, finds excellent usage in parts and structures where a high strength-to-weight ratio is desirable. It is a heat treatable alloy, and use in this condition is recommended. Its workability is good, and it may easily be machined to high finishes. Its weldability is low, though it may be flash, spot, or seam welded if necessary. In the "Alclad" condition, its corrosion resistance is excellent. If anodized, discoloration of this alloy is possible because the high copper content "bleeds through". This "bleeding through" is not harmful to the metal, and does not alter its chemical or physical properties.

Physical Property
2024 is a typical duralumin alloy in the aluminum copper magnesium system. Its composition is reasonable and its comprehensive properties are good. Many countries prodsuce this alloy, which is the largest amount of duralumin. The alloy is characterized by high strength and certain heat resistance, which can be used as working parts below 150 ° C. When the temperature is higher than 125 ° C, the strength of 2024 alloy is higher than that of 7075 alloy. The formability is better in the hot state, annealing and new quenching state, and the effect of heat treatment is significant, but the heat treatment process is strict. It has poor corrosion resistance, but it can be effectively protected by covering with pure aluminum; it is easy to prodsuce cracks during welding, but it can be welded or riveted by using special technology. It is widely used in aircraft structures, rivets, truck hubs, propeller components and other structural parts.
