Both 7005 aluminum and 6061 aluminum are aluminum alloys. They have a moderately high 95% of their average alloy composition in common. For each property being compared, the top bars is 7005 aluminum and the bottom bars is 6061 aluminum.
Aluminum alloys are highly resistant to corrosion. They are sensitive to high temperatures ranging between 200 and 250°C (392 and 482°F), and tend to lose some of their strength. However, the strength of Aluminium / Aluminum alloys can be enhanced at subzero temperatures, thus making them good low-temperature alloys. Aluminium / Aluminum 7005 alloy is a wrought alloy type. The following datasheet will provide more details about Aluminium / Aluminum 7005 alloy.
7005 aluminum sheet (Al-Zn-Mg-Cu) belongs to super-hard aluminum with great welding performance. 7005 aluminum alloy is a typical kind of light-weight aluminum, it can be heat strengthened, but is not stronger than 6061 aluminum alloy sheet
1. At present, the material commonly used in aluminum alloy frame is 7005 and 6061 two.
2.7 series aluminum alloy mainly takes zinc as the main alloy, the composition ratio reaches 6%. 6 series aluminum alloy mainly takes magnesium and silicon as the main alloy, the total composition ratio is lower.
3. In terms of strength, 7005 is stronger, but it is only a little stronger.
4. All aluminum alloys used as frame material are heat-treated to T6.
5. But on the whole, 6061 is the better material. Because 7005 contains a high proportion of other metals, it is more difficult to weld and handle, especially 7075 (the last two numbers represent the proportion of alloy), so it is generally not used as a frame material. In contrast, 6061 can increase its strength and reduce its wind resistance through profiling and various treatments because of its lower proportion of other metals, and it can even reduce its weight by 3 times pumping the tube.
The main alloying elements of 6061 aluminum alloy are magnesium and silicon, and form Mg2Si phase. If it contains a certain amount of manganese and chromium, it can neutralize the bad effect of iron; sometimes a small amount of copper or zinc is added to improve the strength of the alloy without making its corrosion resistance significantly reduced; there is a small amount of copper in the conductive material to offset the bad effect of titanium and iron on the conductivity; zirconium or titanium can refine the grain and control the recrystallization organization; in order to improve machinability, lead and bismuth can be added. In Mg2Si, the Mg/Si ratio is 1.73. In the heat treatment state, Mg2Si is solidly fused in aluminum, so that the alloy has an artificial age-hardening function. 6061 requires a certain strength, weldability and high corrosion resistance of industrial structural parts. 6061 requires a certain strength, weldability and high corrosion resistance of various industrial structural properties, such as the manufacture of trucks, tower buildings, ships, trams, furniture tubes, barss, shapes and sheets for mechanical parts, precision machining, etc.
